Ransford has long been the name to know in Massachusetts for pest control. Initially founded in 1896, it’s one of the oldest pest control companies in the United States, and it has always been locally owned. When Maria Anderson Richmond took over for her father in 2012, her goal was not only to keep the high standards for the company that has been in place for decades but also to move the company forward.

Awarded Woman-Owned Business Certification

Ransford Pest Control is proud to be a certified Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) according to the Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office, in addition to being a member of the National Pest Management Association Inc., New England Pest Management Association Inc., TickEncounter Prevention Partner, and a certified FAC-117 Pest Control Partner for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

It’s not hard to find a company looking for a way to set themselves apart from the competition these days. Ransford’s new certification gives them a chance to compete for contracts from the government and some public corporations. Many of these organizations have to designate a certain percentage of their business to women-owned companies, and this certification can help Ransford compete for those dollars.

Certification, though, was not an overnight process, and it was not easy. Ransford Pest Control had to pull hundreds of pages of paperwork and demonstrate their business success to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office. “Getting this certification took quite a bit of work on our part. You have to demonstrate that you are owned and operated by a woman as well as meet a number of other requirements. They scrutinize everything pretty carefully,” said Mrs. Richmond.

Proud to be FAC-117 Approved

Ransford Pest knows that there are many locations that are just as important as home or commercial locations. This includes public schools, police stations, fire stations, and many more. But while residential homes and commercial businesses can contact a pest control company whenever they want for whatever pest they may have, can the same be said for these various government properties and other facilities?

This is what it means to be FAC-117 approved for the Commonwealth. There are so many places that deserve to be pest free but may not know who to contact, or who is approved to do the job at their location. When a company is FAC-117 approved, the technicians can go in and do the job that needs to be done in order to provide an environment that is free of pests.

There are a great number of locations that will need a FAC-117 vendor to handle any issues that may come up. Many are government-run, but others are larger facilities that simply require the right company to do the job. FAC-117 also makes it much easier for locations to find and contract the right pest control company. The following can benefit from a business that is FAC-117 approved:

  • Public access areas
  • Parks and recreational areas
  • Housing authorities
  • Healthcare buildings and hospitals
  • Public schools
  • Colleges and universities
  • Government facilities
  • Police stations
  • Fire departments
  • RMV properties
  • Department of Transportation facilities

What We Do

We use integrated pest management for all the facilities we visit so we always have a very thorough outline of what we find, what we need to do, and how we need to do it. There is no broad-spectrum use of pesticides; we are focused on making the area as risk-free as possible so people remain safe and healthy while pests quickly go away and stay away.

If you ever have any questions you can always ask. We enjoy working with our clients as this gives us additional insight into what they want from us and how we can help provide them with their requests. Smart management of pests means that areas remain clean and balanced, workers and visitors are comfortable, and worries about pests are the last thing on anyone’s mind. Knowledgeable, courteous, and efficient. We’ve had the same technician for a few years and we haven’t had any pest issues since he started treating our property.
