The Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office has just certified Ransford Pest Control as a Woman Owned Business Enterprise.

Ransford has long been the name to know in Massachusetts pest control. Initially founded in 1896, it’s one of the oldest pest control companies in the United States, and it has always been locally owned. When Maria Anderson Richmond took over for her father last year, her goal was not only to keep the high standards for the company that has been in place for decades, but also to move the company forward. It’s not hard to find a company looking for a way to set themselves apart from the competition these days. Ransford’s new certification gives them a chance to compete for contracts from the government and some public corporations. Many of these organizations have to designate a certain percentage of their business to women-owned companies, and this certification can help Ransford compete for those dollars.

Certification, though, was not an overnight process, and it was not easy. Ransford Pest Control had to pull hundreds of pages of paperwork and demonstrate their business success to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office.“Getting this certification took quite a bit of work on our part. You have to demonstrate that you are owned and operated by a woman as well as meet a number of other requirements. They scrutinize everything pretty carefully,” said Mrs. Richmond.

Proud to be FAC-92 Approved

Ransford Pest knows that there are many locations that are just as important as the home or commercial locations. This includes public schools, police stations, fire stations, and many more. But while residential homes and commercial businesses can contact a pest control company whenever they want for whatever pest they may have, can the same be said for these various government properties and other facilities?   

This is what it means to be FAC-92 approved for the Commonwealth. There are so many places that deserve to be pest free but may not know who to contact, or who is approved to do the job at their location. When a company is FAC-92 approved, the technicians can go in and do the job that needs to be done in order to provide an environment that is free of pests.

Many are government run, but others are larger facilities that simply require the right company to do the job.
